I'll echo her sentiments. I got to know Dave when he helped teach a EMT-CT class that I was in. I also worked with him at Lewis-Gale. Dave was a great person and I'm grateful for the opportunity to know him.

Dave treated everyone as an equal, always a friendly word and a smile. I will miss seeing him when I go to LGMC.

I was saddened to hear about David's passing. I worked with David back in the old Roanoke City EMS days at the old gas station on Melrose (Station 4) before the merger. I have great memories of running calls with David and how he would always get mad at me for re-writing his reports because I thought they were too sloppy!

Nights at Sgt Peppers with Pat, Bishop, Cromer and all the other guys from "back then". He and I had some great times together, ran some crazy, funny and very serious calls together and I could always trust him to know what I needed next when the patient was bad.
I always joked with him that the only time I wrecked an ambulance it was his fault for parking 10 houses away and asking me to go move it.

I left EMS many years ago, but most of the stories I ever told friends included David.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

The little round man had a way of making you laugh no matter how pissed off you were.

I remember when he was RS1 we responded to a serious call together and I didn't have a clue how to mix a drug and I said to Dave "I don't know how to do this" He replied "Well, I used to but my memory is a long as ....." then he said it's never too late to start reading and he picked up the protocol book and we got the job done.

No matter how serious the situation was he always managed to have a smile and come up with a way to make you smile.
