Roanoke Recruit School Final Burn

Anonymous said...: Was their burn what smoked up Roanoke yesterday afternoon? Could smell smoke downtown and on Mill Mtn and there was a haze... Weird. I hadn't heard about any real fires yesterday.; 8:33 AM
FireFleitz said...: Actually, the burn was out on Kessler Mill Road at the Regional Training Center. I doubt the smoke/smell would have made it to downtown Roanoke. I do not know of any fires downtown at that time.; 3:56 PM

Rhett Fleitz is a Lieutenant with the Roanoke Fire-EMS Department in the City of Roanoke, Virginia. He is the Secretary/Treasurer of the Roanoke Fire Fighters Association IAFF Local #1132. Rhett is currently continuing historical research and data collection after the Late Captain Wiseman. In 2006, he completed his first book, "Firefighting in Roanoke", a pictorial look at the history of the Fire Service in the City of Roanoke.
