Why Not Rudy, This is why!!
Hey guys, several of you have asked about the Republican candidates this year. It seems as though the loudest heard are the ones who simply want the IAFF to endorse a Republican. I think it is funny because I personally don't care about what party they are in but rather their views on certain issues. You are entitled to your opinions, as am I.
What I am getting at is that the Republican front runner is Rudy Guiliani. Rudy has a sordid past with the IAFF and its members. There is a website set up to inform about the issues that have created this animosity between Rudy and IAFF members. Visit the website: http://www.rudy-urbanlegend.com/.
I don't know who the IAFF will endorse, however I can pretty much guarantee it will be one of the front running Democrats. The Republicans don't seem to have much to offer right now.
While I am at it, you can view more info on the Collective Bargaining Bill here.

Rhett. Can you tell me who the last Republican the IAFF backed for Presdient? I think the Iaff would Endorse a monkey as long as SHE is a Democrat. So Rhett,,, Do you see L-1132 endorseing H.Clinton??? If so what a joke. I do not see this Local having the balls to do anything else!!!
Surely someone else I hope. The one in office now is doing fine. WAR, PEOPLE LEAVING HIS ADMIN., HIGH GAS PRICES,
Republicans are not friends of labor unions.Look at thier voting record.Would you rather have Hillary who is a friend of labor or Rudy who is not.Remember the IAFF is a labor union.
Republicans believe in a strong Military and Department of defence, after 9-11 we have to trust our safety on that.We must fight terrorism over seas on their soil (Iraq-Afghanistan) not ours!Bush unlike clinton took the fight to Bin Laden and his terror group all over the world.Under President Bush's leadership the unemployment has been at an all time low
(REMEMBER WE ARE A LABOR UNION!)Today the stock Market (ICMA)hit a ALL TIME HIGH!!! The 3rd time it has done that in the last year. You say the Republicans do not have much to offer, But give Fred Thompson a chance. The union should put Ballot boxes in the stations and let us the membership vote to decide WHO we endorse. I bet this will not happen cause you know what the end result would be!In 2004 only 2 locals in the country did not endorse Kerry. Does our union have the balls to do the same in 2008?? Time will tell.
You are speaking of the military. We are speaking of labor issues.
Sounds like the Republican cheering squad.
Why would the union support a Republican that did not support them ?
It does not matter which party you vote for or support they are all liars and will tell you anything you want to hear to get your vote and support. Give me one candidate who is or has been honest and truthful during their time in office or during their campaign. The truth is not in them
Who the hell is Fred Thompson !!!!
Show me an honest politician?
Why support a candiate solely on labor issues. Surely your life is more than that.
Rhett,
Please list all the accomplishments that he Democrats have done for us, the firefighter. I seemed to have forget. Must not have been that importment to my way of life.
Where have some of you been? Fred thompson is a senator from tennessee. You may know him from the tv show law and order where he plays a lawyer on that show.I have been reading alot about him lately seems like a good canidate. time will tell on him as well.go to www.imwithfred.com and check him out.
I'm just excited that the local website is up and running again. I almost forgot who I was going to vote for but then this post came up. Thanks for refreshing my memory Rhett.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. Don't vote for a candidate that supports your union and your job. Vote to support the candidate that has your religious beliefs. Talk about ignorant. Ever hear of separation of church and state?
Besides that, most of the republican supporters in the local are former ticks. Former ticks that can't change their mindset towards a paid department have been the death of the morale and brotherhood in this department. They spend all of their tick life backstabbing and walking on others to get to the top, then they get hired here and do the same thing. The bad thing is that admin condones this behavior, and encourages it. Everyone looks after themselves, and no one else. That is not brotherhood.
And those that keep wanting to spout this fearmongering about taking the war to their shores, don't forget to pick up your Nazi armbands at your next Republican meeting.
Nuf said.
Move over Mike Banks. Hello and welcome to the new RoanokeRumormill.Good job Rhett, I bet you are Proud! The only question now is when will the chiefs have this blocked in city stations?
I am not sure I understand you anonymous. Politics, debate, and Presidential candidates. These aren't exactly rumors. These are opinions.
By the way. You all can vote for who you like. The IAFF will endorse the best available candidate. Like several comments have said that Republicans do not support the Labor Unions. This isn't entirely correct, but as a blanket statement is pretty close. Democrats usually do support Labor Unions.
Might I remind you of the Collective Bargaining Bill currently in the House that is being supported by numerous Democrats and a lot of Republicans as well. This is what you should care about the IAFF supporting.
I do not know much about Fred Thompson, however he has gained support in recent months. I will have to see what he is all about. He did not speak at the IAFF Presidential Forum in case you all were wondering. I don't think he had announced his candidacy at the time.
"Besides that, most of the republican supporters in the local are former ticks." Hey unionhead, dont forget that your current local president is a former tick! One who became too good to continue volunteering to help his community once he was hired as a full-time man. Keep up the good work within the local! We can see the improvments everyday! (i.e. Quint 7) I might sign up to be one of those gold club members so I can shit even more of my money away to the union!
Get out if its that bad?!
