Is the Department planning any thing to celabrate 100 years of service to Roanoke, for Station 1#?
Yeah, they are planning to close it down, the bunch of idiots. I love to hear the Mindless Gang (aka, City Council and City Management) rant about how we need tourism in the Roanoke Valley, and then want to close down one of the oldest operational Fire Stations in the state, and country. People come from all over the country and world to visit Roanoke and see this fire station. I am willing to bet that more people come see Fire Station #1 than come to see the Art Museum. But the city is willing to dump a bunch of money into that money pit, and throw away a true piece of history by closing this station. Moving a functional fire company out of the station destroys the claim of an operational firehouse. Darlene Burcham and Jim Grigsby can't see the forest for all of the trees. And as far as that goes, neither can the Mayor and 4 of his mental dwarfs. Heck, the mayor and the "For The City" gang might have plans to sell it to Carilion, seeing that all 4 of them have been bought and payed for by the Roanoke Valley Medical Nazis.
I agree it's sad that they are closing station 1. I remember going a "field trip" there when I was in elementary school. I think it's an awesome peice of history, and agree with you about the art museum. That place is going to be tacky! I don't think our city gov't is too bright when it comes to tourism.
There is a celebration party being planned. It will take place on March 17, 2007. The St Patrick's Day parade and the city celebration will be going on at the same time. Let everyone you can think of know about it and stop by the new station and #1. If you know of any retirees let the comm. members know. There is a committee formed and assistance was requested. They are planning on doing a video and several other things for the celebration.

Does Captain Heck have that much influence on this?
