Roanoke Fire Blog hits the news

Over the years, I have formed friendships and acquaintances with many journalist and bloggers. There are several who check in daily to VAFireNews.com and the Roanoke Fire Blog. Several picked up the story about the blog being banned.

View some of the stories here:

You may have to scroll down on the blogs, the stories ran yesterday.

I think that is great. How can we get the info on the local stations and in the times?? Unfortunately, the citizens of Roanoke probably do not pay much attention to the firegeezer or any other fire news in general. Would be nice for one of the local news outlets to pick up this story.

This is the best job in the world, but we are working for the worst employer in the world. For all of you outsiders looking in, do any of yall have chiefs that have never ridden the seat of a fire truck?? Because we do, and it shows!! The only thing keeping me here is the 24 hr schedule. And if they ever try to turn us into a 10 hr, 12hr, 14hr dept, or whatever the hell other places do, im outta here.

If downtown don't like us venting on line lets just start picking in front of all the stations on are days off with are problems...

old school when men looked each other in the eye...in a galaxy long long ago

I think you mean picketing...like when you are on strike. Picking is what you do with your nose.

I just realized this union is full of a bunch of david hobacks a ralphs. You would soon attack someone spelling or English abilities then work together." I'm out" good luck with your spelling bee fights. It just dawned on me if there is no leadership in the firedept, why would it magically show its self in the union. I have really wanted to help move this group in anyway, I could but not anymore good luck IAFF LOCAL ANONYMOUS.

Rhett,

I offer my strongest personal condemnation possible - and question the sanity of any Fire Service member who might autonomously seek to silence my Brothers and Sisters access to information and opinions relevant to their vocation.

It may indeed be their poorly crafted right, but in my humble opinion, it remains an insane and unjustifiable decision.

Similarly, I must personally question the intelligence of any person who would - with one stroke of a pen (again, autonomously), broadly limit access of my Brothers and Sisters to information (routinely provided on your blog) that helps them and those they are worn to serve survive disaster.

What's next? Will Union newspapers and magazines also be outlawed from Fire Stations?

Speaking my personal thoughts.

Have you tried any "blogspots"? Mine is not accessible
from RC network either and this has been the case for a long time.

Would you try savecountryside.blogspot.com to see if you can get to it?
