Today marked a significant Anniversary for the Roanoke Fire-EMS Department, one hundred years as a completely career Fire Department. (Read More)

March 31, 1907 - The Roanoke City Fire Department became fully paid with uniformed men and the Volunteers disbanded, most of which were hired by the department.

Thanks to the new chief of department, who by the way is a terrible public speaker, reading straight off of the sheet, the city did not give the Fire Department justice for it's never ending dedication to going the distance. The anniversary was not publicly announced, just the retirees were notified. I cant speak anymore I getting sick agian... I alergic to the BS that is going around with all the new stuff up HOBACKS sleeve....I would think Grigsby's hand is getting tired of holding up the big man....
