To the Rescue Museum

I received some news today about the "To the Rescue Museum". I posted some information on the museum a while back, and was told that it had closed down. Well sure enough, the Museum is no longer at Tanglewood Mall. For whatever reason, Tanglewood Mall decided not to renew the lease and offered the Museum a smaller space. The Museum could not fit in the smaller space and closed its doors. Currently, the exhibits, history, and artifacts are in storage. The Museum may open again locally, although there is also interest in moving it to Northern Virginia or Virginia Beach. I also understand that the local Fire Departments are trying to formulate a solution. It will be interesting to see what happens. You can visit the To the Rescue Museum online.

Everyone might be interested to know that during a city council meeting several weeks ago this topic was discussed and a certain council member suggested that the museum be temporarily housed in the rear of the bays at Fire Station 1. Ms. Burcham didn't elaborate but did comment that the city was trying to help the museum by finding them a temporary home. Somebody answer that knock, their coming in the backdoor.

This is very interesting. I didn't realize anything along these lines were going on currently. I did catch the word this morning on what I posted, however I was not informed of the City Council discussion.

Come on, where has everyboby been. It will be put where they always wanted it - #1 Station. This has been in the plans for years. After the consulant study comes back and recommends that #1 be closed, the rescue museum will have a new home.
