Firefighters rescued one dog but were unable to save another one from a fire that tore through a Southeast Roanoke house Friday afternoon.

ived at the house in the 1200 block of Hamilton Terrace about 4:45 p.m. to find fire and smoke inside the two-story brick house, said Roanoke Fire-EMS spokeswoman Tiffany Bradbury. No one was home at the time of the fire, which caused roughly $25,000 worth of damage, Bradbury said.
