FDR at Fire Station #1

President Franklin D. Roosevelt on Engine 1

That is right folks, this is a picture of President Franklin D. Roosevelt on Engine 1 out front of the current Fire Station 1 Downtown Roanoke. FDR was in town for the opening of the Salem VA Medical Center around 1940. I had heard of this picture existing and recently recieved the picture to scan and add to the digital database for The Maurice Wiseman Project that the RFFA has begun over at www.local1132.org. If anyone has anything to add about this visit feel free to leave a comment.

That is such an awesome picture. Not only for FDR being in the picture, but to see the firefighters dressed up, and the equipment they used back then.
