How right you are. Roanoke City allows for a rule of 70 for its firefighters as opposed to 80 which the rest of the City has. However it would be nice to walk away with more earlier. It is unfortunate the amount of guys who retire only to pass on shortly after retirement. Some departments do allow for 20 and out, and make it affordable and economical.
I should not forget the reason why we are talking about this though. It is unfortunate that this man was still working in such a demanding job at the age of 62.
Rest in Peace.
My condolences to his family.
